The datetime module supplies classes for manipulating dates and times. While date and time arithmetic is supported, the focus of the implementation is on efficient attribute extraction for output formatting and manipulation. With sufficient knowledge of applicable algorithmic and political time adjustments, such as time zone and daylight saving time information, an aware object can locate itself relative to other aware objects.
An aware object represents a specific moment in time that is not open to interpretation. Whether a naive object represents Coordinated Universal Time UTClocal time, or time in some other timezone is purely up to the program, just like it is up to the program whether a particular number represents metres, miles, or mass.
Naive objects are easy to understand and to work with, at the cost of ignoring some aspects of reality. For applications requiring aware objects, datetime and time objects have an optional time zone information attribute, tzinfothat can be set to an instance of a subclass of the abstract tzinfo class.
These tzinfo objects capture information about the offset from UTC time, the time zone name, and whether daylight saving time is in effect. Only one concrete tzinfo class, the timezone class, is supplied by the datetime module.
Supporting timezones at deeper levels of detail is up to the application. The rules for time adjustment across the world are more political than rational, change frequently, and there is no standard suitable for every application aside from UTC.
The datetime module exports the following constants:. The smallest year number allowed in a date or datetime object. The largest year number allowed in a date or datetime object. An idealized naive date, assuming the current Gregorian calendar always was, and always will be, in effect. Attributes: yearmonthand day. Attributes: hourminutesecondmicrosecondand tzinfo.

A combination of a date and a time. Attributes: yearmonthdayhourminutesecondmicrosecondand tzinfo. A duration expressing the difference between two datetimeor datetime instances to microsecond resolution. An abstract base class for time zone information objects. A class that implements the tzinfo abstract base class as a fixed offset from the UTC.
The datedatetimetimeand timezone types share these common features:. Objects of these types support efficient pickling via the pickle module. Objects of the date type are always naive. An object of type time or datetime may be aware or naive. A datetime object d is aware if both of the following hold:.
A time object t is aware if both of the following hold:.Posted by: admin November 13, Leave a comment. This can not be fixed by specifying a datefmt because ct is a time. Or, to get milliseconds, change the comma to a decimal point, and omit the datefmt argument:.

From version 3. So you can do. If you're concerned about measuring elapsed time, you should use the monotonic clock python 3. This clock is not affected by system clock updates like you would see if an NTP query adjusted your system time, for example.
It provides a reference time in seconds that can be used to compare later to measure elapsed time. If you use my code belowthe time will appear in seconds, then, after a decimal, milliseconds. I think that there is a difference between Windows and Unix - please comment if there is. These multiplications to for milliseconds may be decent for solving or making some prerequisite acceptable.
It could be used to fill a gap in your database which doesn't really ever use it. Although, for real situations which require precise timing it would ultimately fail. I wouldn't suggest anyone use this method for mission-critical operations which require actions, or processing at specific timings.
For example: round-trip pings being ms in the USA You couldn't just round that up and use it efficiently. My own example requires tasks at every second which means if I rounded up after the first tasks responded I would still incur the processing time multiplied every main loop cycle. This ended up being a total function call every 60 seconds. Just a thought for people looking for more accurate reasoning beyond solving a database gap which never really uses it. It seems int time. IMO I'd use floor and not round, but that's just me. If someone asks what the hour is, and it'sthe number they probably want is 7, not 8.In Python, the datetime module can be used to get date and time.
This is good but there is something annoying: the milliseconds or the fraction that gets printed by default. How can we get rid of that? There are a couple of ways to do the trick. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.

Arguments may be ints, longs, or floats, and may be positive or negative. Only daysseconds and microseconds are stored internally. Arguments are converted to those units: A millisecond is converted to microseconds. A minute is converted to 60 seconds. An hour is converted to seconds.
A week is converted to 7 days. If no argument is a float, the conversion and normalization processes are exact no information is lost.

If the normalized value of days lies outside the indicated range, OverflowError is raised. Note that normalization of negative values may be surprising at first. Note that, because of normalization, timedelta. In addition to the operations listed above timedelta objects support certain additions and subtractions with date and datetime objects see below.
Comparisons of timedelta objects are supported with the timedelta object representing the smaller duration considered to be the smaller timedelta. How to add channels to samsung tv

The handling of leap seconds is platform dependent. Note: The epoch is the point where the time starts, and is platform dependent. On Windows and most Unix systems, the epoch is January 1,UTC and leap seconds are not counted towards the time in seconds since the epoch. To check what the epoch is on a given platform we can use time. Return type: This method returns a float value which represents the time in seconds since the epoch.

Note that even though the time is always returned as a floating point number, not all systems provide time with a better precision than 1 second. While this function normally returns non-decreasing values, it can return a lower value than a previous call if the system clock has been set back between the two calls. John Hunter.
See also the timeit module That is the whole point the result of time being a float and not an int. I had the same issue when I was trying to do the same thing, but the time and datetime modules return milliseconds on my linux machines.
